Cate Colburn-Smith was raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and has called Boulder, Colorado home since attending the University of Colorado, where she earned a B.S. in Business. In 17 years at IBM, she has worked in marketing, strategy, sales and management positions. Successful but never quite fulfilled in corporate high-tech, Cate spent the better part of her twenties and thirties longing to discover her true passion. Then she found motherhood, breastfeeding and writing—and through The Milk Memos, the chance to combine all three, plus her business experience, into a crusade with purpose. Cate loves a good snow storm, a lazy morning, coffee with cream, her mellow dog and two purring cats, her cruiser bike, long hugs from her husband, and elaborate make-believe games with her two beautiful daughters.

AndreaAndrea Serrette was born and raised in Boulder, Colorado and earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in English and Journalism from the University of Colorado. She is still addicted to the Rocky Mountains and lives in Boulder, where she writes internal and executive communications for a division within IBM and helps manage three kids, two nutty dogs, and one really tenacious fish—as well as orthodontist appointments and volleyball, soccer, and cross country schedules. When she’s not busy (ha!) with these things, she can be found riding her bike, running, reading books with her husband, playing Dominoes with the kids, or slurping a banana milk shake. Before dreaming up the idea to turn the lactation room journals into a book, she wondered what she was put on this earth to do. Now she knows.
